Sr. Telecom Network Technician, Permanent


The Senior Telecom Network Technician will work with a team of Technicians to provide installation, configuration, commission, integration, upgrade and maintenance services of various Radio Base Station and Central Office equipment.

• Travel to various sites throughout Ontario to install equipment rack(s)/ cabinets, ironwork, fiber trough, telecom transport equipment, and DC power equipment
• Work on structured cabling, including cutting, running, tying and manually terminate all sizes of power, switchboard, coaxial, Ethernet, fiber and fiber fusion
• Configure, commission and integrate telecom transport equipment
• Conduct Site Surveys
• Effectively analyze, diagnose and resolve problems pertaining to various cellular and wireline networks and equipment to ensure service objectives are met
• Perform equipment transfers and network enhancements in accordance with engineering applications
• Testing equipment and networks for the acceptance and the implementation in cellular and central office sites
• Responsible for quality of workmanship and taking all necessary precautions, to prevent service disruptions
• Supervise and train junior Technicians


• 3 - 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience in the field of microwaves for transmission, maintenance & testing of telecommunication equipment
• Ability to read & interpret telecommunication blue prints, schematics and work orders
• Possess knowledge about fiber technology with the ability to test & repair using various test sets
• Previous experience troubleshooting and performing maintenance on different equipment
• Previous experience leading a team
• Sound understanding and experience with IP communications and configurations
• Excellent understanding of industry standards of installation practices and policies for Central Office and Cellular sites
• Previous experience with sweep and PIM testing
• College certificate or diploma in telecommunications, electronics or related field (considered as asset)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
• Ability to multi-task and work on various projects
• Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to identify alternative and practical solutions
• Strong team player, self-motivated, proactive thinker, flexible and adaptable
• Mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hand, power and complex specialty tools
• Ability to work at heights. Previous experience climbing cellular towers considered an asset
• Flexibility to travel, work weekends and nights as required
• Valid driver's license
